I got my set from the 2009 Singapore Games Toys and Comics Convention from the Play Imaginative booth. They were on sale at SG$50 for a complete set consisting of 6 vinyl figures, with sizes ranging from 4"-6" tall. In Jakarta, Indonesia, they're still priced at around SG$50 EACH.. so you can imagine my ear-to-ear grin :)
The first time i saw these babies i was blown away.. but the price tags that came with it simply held me back.. but yeah, I had to get the whole set nonetheless. So when i saw them at this price at the Con, i just gotta have 'em. They're really cool to display, highly detailed and the finishing is great. You just gotta open them and appreciate them to understand. All i can say is that Sam Fout is a great toy artist and he's heading for great things.
Below is my set..
From left to right:
Major Walter E. Ripper: Sovereign leader and founder of Tomorrow’s Republic, Cadet Clyde Olson: First Mate on TeamAmerica’s Naiad Ark, Special Agent Kakudji: Covert Ops for TeamAfrica, Captain Jack Maddox: Champion pilot for TeamAmerica, Number Three (Formerly Corporal H.G. Magesh): Devoted follower of Major Ripper and Tomorrow’s Republic Soldier, Number One (Formerly Special Agent D. Capstack): Major Ripper’s mouthpiece and chief advisor.
..and below is a review that i borrowed heavily from http://plasticandplush.com/2006/09/review_sam_fout.html
Sam Fout’s Project: Neptoon line is from Playstix – the vinyl toy brand from Play Imaginative. Fout has created comics revolving around the story’s main characters published over a few issues in Play Magazine. They are also developing scripts to tell the story through motion pictures and television.
Background
In the year 2526, Mankind has eradicated all human life from the galaxy. Earth’s animals have formed national teams and launched their space arks into the cosmos. Unable to reach peaceful agreement, the teams construct crude arenas on surrounding moons. There they organize battles and competitions for the total control of the last inhabitable planet.. Neptune.
Packaging
The figures come in two different sizes, meaning that there are two separate boxes, depending on the size of the figure. Each window-front box is individualized depending on the figure that is packaged inside. There is a photo of the character and information about that character.
The Figures
There are six total figures in the Project: Neptoon line. They are split evenly into two different sizes – 4” and 6”.
The 6” tall figures are Major Walter E. Ripper, Special Agent Kakudji, and Number Three.
The 4” tall figures are Captain Jack Maddox, Number One, and Cadet Clyde Olson.
In my own conclusion, I think these are great. 9 out of 10. I would give a perfect 10 out of 10 if only Special Agent Kakudji have at least one point of articulation.
What do y'all think?
Regards, Donny a.k.a Rizla
